learning to be alone in solitude (Kallistos Ware)
Kallistos was an English bishop and theologian of the Eastern Orthodox Church. It is worth listening to his lectures which you can find on youtube.
For now though, I came across this short quote by him which seems to sum up the contemplative life very well.
"A person must learn to be alone in solitude, to listen in one's heart to the wordless speech of the Spirit, and to discover the truth about oneself and God. Then their word to others will be a word of power, because it is a word of silence"
