the ever expanding 'currently reading' book list
I'm not a prolific reader, partly for time reasons, but I do like to try to read a little each day. Sometimes, it is something short for inspiration or for 'lectio divina' .. That is the reading of a short passage and the reflection and meditation on it.
As my current 'reading pile' seems to be ever expanding, with at least one more en route, I thought I would list the books in the pile, just out of interest.
A year with Thomas Merton - A page-a-day collection of entries from Merton's diaries .. a 'perpetual' book
St Anthony of the Desert - by St Athanasius
All shall be well - Sheila Upton
The hermits and anchorites of England - Rotha Mary Clay
The solace of fierce landscapes - Belden C. Lane
Thoughts in solitude - Thomas Merton
Paths in solitude - Eve Baker
They speak by silences - A Carthusian (all books written by Carthusian monks have this as the author)
A time to keep silence - Patrick Leigh Fermor
Halfway to heaven (the hidden life of the Carthusians) - Robin Bruce Lockhart
Landscapes in paradise (Thomas Merton's Gethsemane) - (coffee table photo book)
Hermits - Peter France
and a couple of poetry books
Bunch Grass - Robert Sund
Voice Over - Norman MacCaig
Some of these are repeat reads and some may never get finished and consigned to the 'not interesting enough' pile .. A fair bit to get through though.. Should keep me busy a while anyway!
