the 'thinned down' reading list
Having added yet more books to the reading list that I posted a little while ago, I started to find that reading had become a 'chore' and that I was sometimes reading solely with the intention of getting the list significantly down, even if I didn't enjoy or learn from reading the books in question.
As the pile got higher and less stable, I decided that this was doing me no good at all. I have abandoned some of the less interesting ones now, and have managed to strip the list down to 4 plus the daily 'Merton diary' entries which are very short. There are two others which I haven't included but am still reading as I only have a few pages left.
All four of these books are new ones (well, old but you know what I mean) and ones that I am actually really looking forward to reading. It feels like a breath of fresh air to be able to read these and forget about wading through the others, for now at least.
These are the 4 books on my 'to read now' list.
